YUFIZYOM Participated in the “International Symposium on the Empowerment of Women and Family”
Yalova University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Application and Research Center (YUFIZYOM) Director Assoc. Prof. Asuman Saltan and Deputy Director Asst. Prof. Tübanur Aslan Engin participated in the International Symposium on the Empowerment of Women and Family, held in a hybrid format between October 22–24, 2025, on behalf of our university.
During this significant symposium, in which our university also took part in the organizing committee, Asst. Prof. Tübanur Aslan Engin delivered a presentation addressing the prevalence of smoking among university students, drawing attention to the importance of health awareness among young individuals.
The health of children and young people, as one of the fundamental building blocks of the family, is among the main priorities of our center. In this context, YUFIZYOM continues to carry out awareness-raising activities by measuring carbon monoxide levels and lung capacities of students to promote healthy lifestyle habits.
The harmful effects of smoking on health are well known; however, awareness is the first step toward prevention. Through such pilot studies, our center aims to raise students’ awareness and encourage them to quit smoking or avoid starting in the first place.
